April 21, 2009
This is the obligatory Final Exam question and answer post to help guide your studying. You should start with the two previous exams, continue by reviewing the concepts utilized in your various HWs (including HW5). From there, continue by reviewing the concepts covered in the articles we read this semester, and finish off by going back through the slides and lecture audio up here on the course site.
I’ll respond to any and all questions posted below up until next Monday night before the final. Just as a reminder, that final will be Tuesday, April 28th at 4PM! I don’t think it will take the entire time, so make sure you’re here promptly at 4pm so we can finish up early. If there’s a conflict, please let me know THIS WEEK!
UPDATE! Here’s the second exam key – Exam 2 Key.

Will you “recycle” some of the questions like you did on Test 2?
How much of the test will be questions on code versus theory/history?

Jessica Perez | April 23, 2009 at 5:03 pm
Do we have questions based on past exams? Also do we need to know the information regarding posting of articles after exam 2? Do we need to know about the buttons on javaScript for the final exam?

Tatiana Mesa | April 23, 2009 at 7:08 pm

Should I review all of the reading assignments? Or just the ones that have been posted since the last test?
Also I found a video of you performing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDf-B7nkNSo
Quite good.
….please don’t give me an F.

Juan Valera | April 24, 2009 at 2:18 pm
LMAO that video will go down in DIG history. I always imagined the prof playing in a rock band or something. This is cool too, just… more chill than I gave him credit for.

Dave "bandelero" Pokk | April 24, 2009 at 4:29 pm
Is this a comprehensive final or only on the material we’ve learned since the last test?
19.
profpittard | April 25, 2009 at 10:01 am
Ana: yes
Alanna: depending on the total number, at least a couple
Sami: somewhere between 30-50, and exam 2 is now up on this post
Julio: no dates
Sara: I believe in recycling in all things, and I like to balance out theory with technical
Tatiana: already up, and just one PPT for audio, and understand as much as you can about how audio compression works
Jessica: all articles and JS are fair game
Harrison: all articles, and thanks! That’s not the only one out there, and its certainly not the most embarassing
Dave: yes, comprehensive

Zeve Salman | April 26, 2009 at 12:45 pm
For old things, do we need to know any previous information that was NOT covered on exams 1 & 2? Or is it simply the contents of exams 1 & 2, and any content there after.

Pei Hsin Kang | April 26, 2009 at 2:09 pm
Do we have to know things about jQuery, Ajax, or PHP for the final exam?
25.
erik werlin | April 26, 2009 at 3:58 pm
will there be any questions on conversions? Hex to decimal or binary to hex, or anything like this?
26.
Allison Gawarecki | April 26, 2009 at 4:55 pm
I’d bet my paycheck that there will be Hex, Binary and Decimal conversions. Something to help with them if you have problems is A(hex)=1010 (binary)= 10 (decimal) Seriously, it helps.
27.
Caitlin Havener | April 26, 2009 at 5:09 pm
I’ll take that paycheck.
28.
Cody | April 26, 2009 at 4:37 pm
so…..what are the answers to exam 2? It doesn’t really say.
29.
Caitlin Havener | April 26, 2009 at 5:08 pm
They are highlighted.
30.
Danny Bruno | April 26, 2009 at 7:43 pm
Yeah, I don’t see the answers highlighted either. Maybe because I don’t have MS Word..?
31.
Danny Bruno | April 26, 2009 at 8:12 pm
Yep. That’s what it was. You got to have MS Word 2007 to see the highlights. Couldn’t seem them with MS Works Word processor or Wordpad.
32.
Caitlin Havener | April 27, 2009 at 12:42 pm
So approximately how much new material is going to be on this test and how much old material?
33.
Craig Cohen | April 27, 2009 at 7:44 pm
I am in the library now getting ready to study. If anyone wants to join me feel free text my cell 727-244-5327…. It is 8:45 now and I will be here atleast til 11 or so….
Tatiana, I called to find you. Are you here yet?
34.
Veronica Vega | April 27, 2009 at 8:57 pm
Will questions covering material from the last test until now be mostly code-oriented? Since we looked at alot of applying javascript, etc.
35.
profpittard | April 27, 2009 at 10:23 pm
Zeve: start with what was previously covered, but don’t exclude the rest
Pei: only what they generally are, no syntax
Erik: yes
Caitlin: assume something like 75% old and 25% new, if that helps
Veronica: audio and code, yes
36.
John C. Lehmann | April 27, 2009 at 11:04 pm
Alright I can’t resist it’s the last one of the year.
Well my fellow middle school students (from past exam) lol.
We need:
1 rasberry scantron
There will be 50 questions multiple choice
I think he said no conversions if there are they won’t be too hard.
Study the 2 previous exams and the lectures from Audio to now
Upload Hw5 and the 2 articles
Study as much as you want just have a great summer when u are done and don’t do anything stupid that won’t let u return next semester.
P.S. To clarify I have never made straight A’s nor attended every class lol. Oh and there is a video of pittard on youtube in his band. I recommend hot, hot, hot song.
37.
Harrison Phillips | April 28, 2009 at 6:20 pm
Really? You decided to come in here and patronize ever person in the class by providing a FAQ that wasn’t requested? Was that really necessary. At this point I doubt anyone will see it. I don’t think you’d have done anything like in this in person. Don’t use the internet to make yourself feel more important, the internet is not for that.

erik werlin | April 28, 2009 at 1:52 am
I just have a question on calculating grades. I found a web site that you can input your grades and how much weight each carries and it tells you your grade in the class, I recommend it. My questions is if we did the extra credit videos how much is given and is it for homework or exam points, and how much?
Grade calculator site is http://www.conquercollege.com/gradecalc/
